History
Built in the 18th Century, the property did not become an inn until Victorian times when it provided food, refreshment and when necessary a bed to farmers on market day, travellers or workers from the nearby Poldrate Mill.
To this day we follow in this tradition of warm hospitality. The 2016 return of Paul and Ann Kinnoch ushers in a renewed focus on quality experience. Under their previous stewardship the couple won both the Scottish Licensed Trade’s prestigious Best Community Pub Award and Scottish & Newcastle’s Best Pub Food Award.

Just 20 miles from Edinburgh, Haddington is a beautiful market town with a host of historic attractions, a fine selection of independent shops, and a regular series of events throughout the year.
We are just a few minutes’ walk from the town centre, close to the lovely River Tyne and to the largest parish church in Scotland, the stunning St Mary’s Kirk. We are delighted to welcome you to this idyllic corner of our town.
