Built in the 18th Century, the property did not become an inn until Victorian times when it provided food, refreshment and when necessary a bed to farmers on market day, travellers or workers from the nearby Poldrate Mill.

To this day we follow in this tradition of warm hospitality. The 2016 return of Paul and Ann Kinnoch ushers in a renewed focus on great quality food and drink. Under their previous stewardship the couple won both the Scottish Licensed Trade's prestigious Best Community Pub Award and Scottish & Newcastle's Best Pub Food Award.
